Massage and Ayurvedic Bodywork Offerings
Abyangha
90 minutes $190
Abhyanga is an ancient tradition of bodywork from the Ayurvedic stream of wisdom. It uses marma points (energy points which are the origin of acupuncture), herb infused oils (thaila), and focused strokes for the lymphatic system which is the foundation of our immune system. This modality is deeply soothing to the nervous system and delivers a profound infusion of herbal wisdom through the oils which I make in the traditional way in a 12+ hour process of preparation.
Craniosacral
60 min/$140
75 min/$180
Craniosacral Therapy is a profoundly deep and extremely subtle form of noninvasive bodywork that addresses the craniosacral fluid system, the anatomy of the skull and spine, and the fascial bowls of the body, to achieve states of deep healing and relaxation as well as to release patterns of chronic holding to achieve greater a greater sense of freedom. Through the meditative presence of the practitioner, the practitioner and client enter “a trance state simultaneously. Milne (1995) has referred to trance as a ‘glamour’ or an expanded state of awareness – ‘a larger me’. In this state, bodyworkers typically become more focused, experience heightened awareness and an increased connection to the patient; time distortion can occur for both the patient and therapist. Physical and emotional states can be sensed, which may not be normally noticed when both patient and therapist are in an everyday ‘busy’ state.”
Craniosacral therapy often leads to stillpoints within the session. A stillpoint is a moment when through present nonjudgmental witnessing, the craniosacral rhythm stops, or, you could say that it synchronizes with the three breaths (liquid/craniosacral, air/breathing, heart/circulatory-breath).
When the CS rhythm stops, so does the breathing. The client enters a state of what is called in yoga, kumbhaka, spontaneous breath retention. It is a cessation of duality and abiding in the One while still filled with prana/vital life force. The breathing will eventually gently resume. During these still points, the client develops what is called a therapeutic pulse and contacts their inner physician, their own true nature of inner wisdom, and through this contact, heals, unwinds, and releases deeply held blocks on all levels of being.
Moxabustion
60 minutes $100 (with foot and hand acupressure)
Moxabustion is a healing modality that uses infrared heat and the healing energy of specially prepared mugwort (yoldst wyrta, the oldest herb) to move stagnant energy (chi or prana) and blood. It is warming and effective for back pain, menstrual cramps, and cold and damp arthritis. This modality can be added to therapeutic sessions or can be applied on its own or with acupressure on the hands and feet.
Therapeutic Tablework
60 minutes $130
90 minutes $170
Therapeutic tablework is what I call my own personal alchemy from 20 years of study and professional bodywork practice. It combines Swedish, deep tissue, acupressure, passive stretching from my Thai yoga therapy training, and long integrative strokes from my studies at Esalen Institute. I adjust this modality to each client as they present on my table and each moment, present with what is arising.
